ESSR was established by academy director Dek Smith in August 2008 to work with and along existing football programs in schools and clubs in the Rome area. Since then ESSR has forged links with a number of football bodies to deliver quality coaching and provide a coach education syllabus

ESSR has set up a football academies at a number of schools in Rome.

St George’s School now has its own football academy where all St George’s footballers male and female can attend. St George’s also employs Dek Smith has head of football development to run all their football programs from ages 5 to 18 male and female. Coach Dek coordinates coaching sessions and runs coaching courses for all their football staff. He also organizes and runs football tournaments and fixtures for ST George’s Football Academy

SFA is also run as a mirror football program in the south of Rome at Southlands English School in Rome.

Southlands pupils have the same football opportunities as all the other academy players and often play in games and tournaments arranged through the academy.
