Extra Time Programmes for Schools and Centres of development
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the English Soccer School in Rome, E.S.S.R
The love of football in Italy is a true passion, I also believe the love of the English language is often sought after and desired. In America there is a need for American/Italian youths who wish to speak Italian, so for the past three years we have run the Italian Soccer School programme in Georgia USA. We now have an academy in Rome, Italy and look to build E.S.S.R to develop players in Rome who attend British/American schools and wish to learn English through their love of the great game of soccer.
The English Soccer School of Rome will bring to the players, both the love of soccer and the desire to learn to speak English through their passion and love of the beautiful game. ESSR will couple both activities through high quality coaching and game knowledge, all delivered entirely in English by high level UEFA quality coaches. We believe this is a perfect program for all English and American schools in Rome.
ESSR also provides this opportunity to Italian players who wish to learn English through soccer by attending one of our Centres of Development (Centro Calcio) located in various places around Rome.

Through my years of coaching soccer on both sides of the Atlantic at most levels of the game, I have specialized mainly in the youth development of soccer players U9-U19. I have spent many years as a director of coaching for clubs in the UK and America and gained all my coaching qualifications in the UK
Born in Manchester England, I have been involved in the game all my life, as player, referee, and coach. My love for the game has given me many opportunities to work in many countries and meet some fantastic people involved in the beautiful game.
I hold the UEFA A’ advanced coaching license and I am also qualified as a coach instructor both in the UK and America. (References and Qualifications). I have also had the opportunity to work at the national youth level of the game in the UK and America. My time involved in British and America Youth Soccer development has allowed me to develop many players over the past 20 years, from youth to professional. I also worked as state coach and assisted the national ODP program in America. I hold a Class A refereeing license and have run courses for future referees through the school system in the UK.
Programmes will be delivered in English and all coaching material (Handouts/Booklets) will be in English.
ESSR will follow the coaching cycle laid out by the National Coaching Foundation UK, with each player being developed by their coaching % needs
1. Technical 2. Tactical 3. Physiological 4. Psychological
Through evaluation each player’s level, dictates what % should be delivered in each session. For example, a 10 year old player would typically have a session which would comprise 70% technical 30% Tactical; an advanced player would probably need 50% Technical 30% tactical 15% Physical 5% Physiological. This of course is just an example and every player is different in their coaching needs.
All players are coached in the development of
1. Speed (Speed of Play) First touch - Decision making- Short and Long Passing
2. Strength (Winning the ball- Shielding-Mental Strength)
3. Personal Skill (Comfortable on the ball in all situations)
4. Game Skill (Game Awareness- What to do and where)
5. Character (Who’s the players within) Building the Player from the inside
My links with many professional clubs in the UK and America will also allow ESSR the opportunity to have guest professional coaches from time to time in the ESSR programs. All coaches will be of English background and possess high level coaching qualifications.
All Sessions will run approximately 60 minutes and can be run after school at the school premises or as part of the day to day school curriculum. The cost set below is per person per program. Players may pay per session for the first three sessions (Look and Try Period)
